Broadly, her research interests span a wide range of topics related to visual cognition. She is interested in understanding how the physical features of the natural world influence aesthetic preferences, guide visual attention, and influence memory.
Claudia completed her PhD at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dirk Bernhardt-Walther, studying the role of visual features in emotion, attention, and memory processes. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the GestaltReVision Lab at KU Leuven, Belgium, working with Johan Wagemans. Her current work seeks to understand aesthetic pleasure in nature (i.e., what gives rise to the pleasant experiences people have when viewing and interacting with natural scenes).
She uses a multifaceted approach – making use of behavioural testing, eye tracking, and computational techniques – to explore these questions.
