Dr Alexandra Mitchell's main interest is understanding the interaction between vision and embodied cognition in clinical populations such as dementia and stroke. She is a passionate about using and understanding lived experience to influence her research and is an open science advocate. She is currently post-doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh in Prof. Robert McIntosh's lad, leading a research project that investigates the effect of Alzheimer's disease on hand-eye coordination. She obtained her PhD from the University of St. Andrews in May 2019.
